10 Reasons You Shouldn't Buy a New Vacuum Cleaner

If you're considering buying a new vacuum cleaner because yours doesn't work properly, or is unreliably or doesn't pick up as good as it should do, don't automatically think that you need a new one.

Here's why.

Vacuums, Cleaning & Storage

1. With the help of the vacuum manual, the manufacturer's website or other resources, you should be able to diagnose what the problem is with your vacuum cleaner, and how to fix it.

2. By knowing what parts you need, you can order them, and get them delivered to your home.  You don't need to be an electrician in order to fit them either.

3. If your hose is too short, or you want a longer power cable, you can probably get replacements, rather than having to buy a new cleaner.  Why not get the tools and extensions you need, rather than buying a new vacuum cleaner?

4. Think of the planet - do you really need to buy a new vacuum cleaner, and have to get rid of all the packaging? How will you dispose of your old vacuum cleaner?

5. Could you recycle, or find another use for your old model? What about using it for cleaning the inside of the car? Or leaving it in the caravan? Or upstairs, so that you don't need to carry your new main vacuum upstairs?

6. If you need to buy a new one, what about buying a used model and having it serviced.  This could save you a fortune compared to a new model, and you'll ensure that it is in full working condition.

7. If you have to buy, why not consider a multi cleaner so that you don't need additional floor cleaners.  You'll be able to clean wooden and stone floors, upholstery and furniture, wet spills and carpet, using just the one machine.

8. Perhaps if you do need a new vacuum, you'll choose a different type.  Maybe you'll want a smaller, or more lightweight model, or a cylinder or upright model this time.

9. If you do need vacuum cleaner parts, or accessories, make sure that you buy quality so you know it will last.  The manufacturers will have their own recommended parts and maintenance schedules.  By sticking to these, you know that you are using parts and accessories that are designed to fit, and will be durable.

10. Whether you decide to buy parts and accessories, or a new vacuum cleaner, you'll want to make sure that you get the best value for money.  You'll need to work out whether parts and accessories, a service or a new cleaner will be best for you.

Now you know why you should buy vacuum cleaner spare, parts and accessories, what will you decide to do?
