Dyson Vacuum Cleaners - Customer Service?

Dyson vacuum cleaners are famous for their high power cleaning ability. They are known for their bag less high suction designs and technology. Many Dyson owners consider their vacuums to be the best in the world. Dyson has done a great job of marketing their vacuum cleaners. Their vacuums are very expensive when compared to other brands and again many owner feel they are worth the price. They are marketed as the answer to every pet owner's need to control hair and dandruff. When Dyson vacuums are new out of the box they do appear to do a very good job.

If you own a Dyson vacuum cleaner and something breaks then you would normally use your warranty to access the repairs necessary. However you cannot do that with Dyson. When use the phone to contact them you are put on hold then given the ultimate run around. Eventually you are told they will call you back and guess what they never do. Several of people have tried to get service for more than 4 months without any resolution. It is obvious that when we called that the people who answered our calls had no intention of solving our problem. What all this means is that if you purchase a Dyson you basically do not have a warranty to back the product. If you own a Dyson take good care of it so it does not break down.

Vacuums, Cleaning & Storage

OK so you do not need a warranty because you can fix just about anything once you get the parts. Let's say that one of the many plastic parts breaks or the hose cracks at the handle you can replace it easily. If you own a Dyson you will have lots of cheap plastic parts break over time. The problem is that you can not get the Dyson to ship the required parts to you. Some parts you cannot order because this is no parts number for that part. When you call back the standard answer is "your order was cancelled "or "you will have to reorder it as we cannot find your order". If you find that hard to believe then just check out the Dyson reviews on Amazon and some of the blogs.

Dyson Vacuum Cleaners - Customer Service?

That is another issue we have with Dyson reviews. When we looked at all the reviews on found on the net it was apparent that many of them were being written by company agents. Let's face it they just are not written in a way that ordinary people write. Consumer reports and other consumer interests have found that in testing there was little difference between other bag less vacuum cleaner brands the Dyson Vacuum cleaner. Some of these companies have very good customer service. Given the fact that you are spending a lot of money for a Dyson you.

Robot Vacuum Cleaners Or How R2-D2 Became iRobot Roomba

Time-starved gadget crazed home bodies have taken a new step towards the "Jetstones" cartoon version of house cleaning with a whole new generation of robot vacuums. Insert a couple of AA or D batteries. Select "go". The little round disc R2D2 like robot never complains. Instead, while you return to the sofa to continue watching a film or game, your robot vacuum "rolls up its microprocessor sleeves" and settles into the task of cleaning your rooms.

Where Robot Vacuums Come From - Star Wars Technology Origins. Robot vacuum cleaners like iRobot roomba didn't just walk onto the consumer market gadget stage without some lead-up technologies. No hard core gadgeteer will be surprised to learn that the modern era's first robot vacuum cleaners are modifications on a core technology of "artificially intelligent" mobile work machines utilized by NASA in extra-terrestrial exploration. Industrial production robots, fully programmable, handle welding, fitting, joinery and a wide range of process functions. Think also about robot pool vacuums, now becoming suburbia"s latest convenience craze. So, it"s no surprise that micro-processors should be re-directed from the PC world and manufacturing world into the home.

Vacuums, Cleaning & Storage

"A Small Step For Robots ... A Giant Leap For Ultra-Civilized Mankind". From sampling and collecting stones on Mars, robots morphed into programmable house cleaning tools that rival conventional vacuum cleaners for performance ... less the time savings of eliminating the human factor. "One small step for robots ... a great leap for mankind" might be the trade logo for the new generation of ultimate home-convenience devices.

Robot Vacuum Cleaners Or How R2-D2 Became iRobot Roomba

How Effective Is Your Robot Vacuum? Robot vacuum technologists utilize their full programming kit bag of tricks to create a feature-rich cleaning tool. Getting started with a device like the Roomba? Easy stuff. For preparation, most robot vacuums only require that you remove loose large stuff from the floor or carpets ... like papers, cloth, cords or anything that might get sucked up and cause your robot vacuum "indigestion" ... just like an ordinary vacuum. Kitchen tile, hardwood floor, carpet, even concrete surfaces.

Hair, dirt, pet fur and dander, food ... any of the ordinary stuff that makes its way onto your floors can be handled by your robot vacuum.

Remote Sensors And Bump-Grind. Your robot vacuum literally bumps its way through your rooms ... sensing objects ... lightly tapping each object like the leg of a chair, then keeps spinning and moving.

With some robot vacuum cleaners, you can pre-set a "virtual" wall ... programming a stop-point into your robot so that he literally stops-on-a-dime. Simplicity is the key to using robot vacuum cleaners. Guesstimate your room's size ... then select small, medium or large on the control panel. Place your iRobot in the middle of the room and then walk away. The rest, as they say, is history.

Batteries And Re-Charging. Simplicity rules with robot cleaners like the roomba robot vacuum or other models. When your robot is not cleaning for you, he can rest his tiny 6-pound frame on a counter or elsewhere and receive a 11 to 15 hour meal of electrons from any household electrical outlet to re-charge to full room-cleaning capability.

Fully charged, a typical robot vacuum cleaner will last 1 hour or more.

Getting Un-Stuck. Like his human inventors, the best robot vacuums occasionally find themselves literally "stuck" ... an odd combination of object-space relationships where the bump-withdrawal fails to extract your robot ... or perhaps gorging on a large towel or a set of smelly socks forgotten under the chair ... Solution? Most robot vacuum models initially send off a "I'm stuck" higher pitched tone. If you don't hear his cry-for-help, your robot carries an on-board automatic shut-off feature. Situation handled without fuss or drama.

Handling Stairs. Vacuuming stairs in the best of conditions is a hassle! Onboard sensors communicate to your robot vacuum "stairs ... watch out ... stop ... do not proceed further! Result? The situation is "recognized". No damage occurs. But, you still have to sort out another way to do your stairs.

Convenience Tool For The Less Able. People injured or limited in any significant manner will reap huge benefits from the new age of robot vacuum cleaners. Light, smart, easy to program, the robots pose little physical risk and permit less able persons to keep their home clean, and ahead on their daily task responsibilities without needing others.

History of the Modern Vacuum Cleaner

Many years ago when vacuum cleaners did not exist people kept their homes and carpets clean with brushes, brooms, and mops and they banged their carpets with sticks to get the dirt and dust out. Of course this was time consuming and dirty, but homes were kept clean and this was just part of the cleaning effort. By the mid 1800s a carpet sweeper showed up on the market and although it had no suction it did have a brush that rotated when it was pushed. A few years later a hand pushed suction vacuum cleaner was introduced although it did not run on electricity and it did not have a brush either.

Not too many years later in 1875 finally a suction vacuum with a brush roll was introduced however it was not powered by electricity and required hand cranking in order to get the power. Chapman and Skinner developed the first portable electric vacuum in 1905. As exciting as this sounded it did not sell very well simply because it weighed 92 pounds and utilized a gigantic 18 inch fan to create the necessary suction. The large size affected its popularity.

Vacuums, Cleaning & Storage

Hoover showed up in 1908 with a vacuum that not only used a filter bag but also offered cleaning attachments and other Hoover vacuum parts. This vacuum only weighed 40 pounds so it was significantly more popular. By 1926 Hoover has incorporated positive agitation in its vacuums which meant the dirt would be dislodged from the carpet and sucked up by the suction. Replacement vacuum parts were also available to replace any part that got old or worn out.

History of the Modern Vacuum Cleaner

Soon, plastic vacuum cleaners were introduced and it wasn't too much longer that headlights were added onto vacuum cleaners to make them more upscale and more desirable. Upright vacuums hit the market in the 1950s and self propelled vacuums became popular by the late 1960s. The years since have resulted in big changes for vacuum cleaners from vacuum cleaners that have larger motors to vacuum cleaners that talk or run on their own.

There are even new vacuum cleaners on the market that use ultraviolet rays to kill mites, fleas, mold, viruses, and other germs. As time goes on more and more vacuum cleaners and technology will be created to help homeowners have a clean home that is free of germs and unwanted pests.

Use a Yard Vacuum For Spring Clean Up

Spring is here and its time to get the yard in shape for the coming growing season. For many people this means getting out the rake and removing all the debris and leaves that were deposited during the long winter months. It frequently takes an entire weekend to just to remove all the deciduous leaves alone. Failure to do so can mean that your grass will not get a good start to the coming growing season. In many locations local ordinances prohibit you from burning your spring clean up debris due to clean air concerns. This frequent leaves you with the option to haul it to the curb for pickup or to use it for mulch.

As an alternative you can use a yard vacuum to clean up the yard in just an hour or two. Lawn vacuums are specialized yard equipment that is specifically designed to remove leaves, litter and small sticks or limbs from yards and lawns. Many larger riding lawn mowers can be converted to work as a yard vacuum. These conversions are more cost effective when compared to purchasing a dedicated lawn vacuum.

Yard vacuum systems come in several different forms. Probably the most common comes in the form of a trailer that is pull behind a lawn mower. A large fan is located on the trailer and it provides suction to the lawnmowers discharge chute through a tube connected to the trailer. The fan also provides the energy to blow the debris in as it enters the enclosed trailer. An advantage to this system is the fact that all the leaves and debris are cut and mulched during the vacuum process. All of which increases its value as a mulch for your garden and landscaping. Dedicated lawn vacuums are specialized lawn maintenance equipment. The most common units owned by a homeowner are walk behind models that have a suction pickup unit at the front of the unit. Leaves are deposited into a bin or disposable bag at the back of the machine making it easy to easy to dispose of or to use as mulch. Many units have portable chutes that can be used to clean debris from landscaping or gardens. One disadvantage to dedicated yard vacuums is that they are limited to picking up leaves and do not do a good job of cutting debris like sticks and branches.

If you have a large enough property then it may be worthwhile to purchase a riding leaf vacuum. However it would probably be cheaper to hire a professional to do the job each spring and fall. Another alternative available is to rent a yard vacuum from the local equipment rental. This really makes sense if you have limited storage space and only use the equipment a few days each spring and fall. In any case the use of a lawn or yard vacuum can save you lots of time considering that you can do several days of work in a many of hours.
